The organiser of the 31st Annual Conference of the ESSD is the Department of Political Science at the University of Vienna. 

 

Organising Committee

Meropi Tzanetakis

Meropi Tzanetakis is a Postdoc Fellow at the Department of Political Science, University of Vienna. Her research focuses on illicit drug markets, digital technology and governance. Meropi leads the project 'Dealing with uncertainty on anonymous online drug markets', funded by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF). She was a visiting research fellow at the University of Essex, University of Oslo and the Alexander von Humboldt Institute for Internet and Society in Berlin. Meropi is editor of 'Drugs, Darknet and Organised Crime' (Nomos, 2019) and managing editor of Kriminologisches Journal.

Alfred Uhl

Alfred Uhl, Ph.D, is deputy head of the Addiction Competence Centre of the Austrian Public Health Institute (GÖG) and Lecturer in quantitative Research Methodology as well as deputy head of the international PhD Programme of the Sigmund Freud Private University (SFU). His current research focus is epidemiology, prevention, evaluation, research methodology.

Emir Handžo

Emir Handžo studied at the University of Innsbruck, where he gained a bachelor degree in Educational sciences with a focus on Media Pedagogy. Emir is currently pursuing a Master´s program for Educational Sciences at the University of Vienna with a focus on Media Studies. He completed the training for eTutoring at the Information Technology Services Center of the University of Innsbruck, where he was employed as Tutor within several departments, working within a technical environment implementing pedagogical methods in E-Learning Systems and dealing with customer solutions. Emir is currently working on preparations to guarantee that the conference would not be derailed by technical problems. Emir can be contacted at emir.handzo@univie.ac.at.
